"Oh Irodia", Crow gasped, "oh I'm so sorry you got hurt, I'm so sorry". Tears welled up in his eyes and he wiped them away, a little ashamed to be showing weakness in front of Seamus and Leon but nether the less horrified at how badly wrong his plan had gone and frightened that Irodia would die of her injury.

"Sir, her left wing has been badly injured" Leon said gravely.

"Funnily enough I've already noticed" Crow growled. "Give her here." Leon quickly passed the injured Irodia over to Crow who pulled her to his chest and took a deep breath. This was going to hurt a bit.

Every Guardian's lie force was tied tightly to the species that they were caring for, and as a result they could feel any injuries that a member, or members of the species sustained as if they were their own. Conversely this life force connection also allowed the Guardian to heal any injuries that a member(s) sustained and vies versa but the act of healing was quite painful.

Taking a deep breath Crow relaxed his mind and focused on his life force, a blood red pulsing thing that burned his mind as soon as he touched it. His mind jerked back in pain then tentivetavely crept forward again. "Easy does it" he told himself as his life force throbbed in warning when his mind came close to touching it. His mind brushed up against his life force as reverently and nervously as a human touching a wild tiger. Then it pounced.

His life force roared and Crow screamed aloud at the white hot pain. "Master!" several voices yelled in alarm. A hand landed on his right shoulder. "No! Leave me be. I'll be fine. I can do this" Crow grunted. His life force struggled in his minds grasp and perspiration ran down Crow's face as he struggled to keep his life force under control.

'Come on, get a grip Crowman' he growled internally. He could feel in the increasing numbness of his limbs that the pain and resultant shock of her injury was killing his fiery Irodia. He was running out of time. Crow tightened his grip on his life force, ignoring the burning pain until slowly, carefully, as if his life force was a ball of plasticine he began to pull away a small part of his life force, pulling and pulling until it came away completely.

He let go of the rest of his life force and pulled his mind, with the small amount of life force still in it's grasp, away before the rest of his life force could exact revenge.

'Phew, hard part over' he thought with a sense of relief as he sought out his mental link with Irodia. 'Ahem, broken wing over here. Stop patting yourself on the back and fix me up', Irodia ordered through their mental link. 'Yes your Highness. Promise not to peck my eyes out once your healed?'

He could feel her anger pounding through their mental link and although animals technically couldn't hurt their Guardian Crow was well aware that they could and would if they were incensed enough. 'I'll think about it', Irodia replied sourly, though Crow could detect a flicker of gratitude for putting him in such pain to heal her underneath her pain, shock and anger.

'Get ready then', Crow warned. He pushed the small piece of life force into his mental link with Irodia and shoved it down to her mind then Irodia's mind and body did the rest of the work.
